Frequently asked questions

Craftsmanship & Authenticity

Yes. Every item we offer is crafted in Japan by skilled artisans and heritage manufacturers. From the forests of Gifu to the workshops of Tokyo, we work directly with makers who preserve regional craft traditions and honor high-quality materials.

Absolutely. Traditional Japanese craftsmanship relies heavily on natural, sustainable resources like Hiba wood (Japanese cypress), clay, bamboo, organic cotton, and vegetable waxes. We prioritize items made with deep respect for the environment.

Because the majority of our goods are handmade, natural variations in color, wood grain, or glaze are to be expected. These subtle differences are not flaws. They are the hallmarks of authentic human craftsmanship, meaning your piece is entirely unique.

Home Decor & Lifestyle

Daruma dolls are traditional symbols of perseverance and good luck. When you set a goal or make a wish, color in the Daruma's left eye. Keep the doll somewhere visible as a daily reminder of your goal. Once you achieve it, color in the right eye to complete the face!

Tenugui are traditional, lightweight cotton hand towels, and Furoshiki are square fabrics used for eco-friendly gift wrapping and carrying goods. Both should be hand-washed gently in cold water. Tenugui are traditionally left unhemmed so they dry quickly. If the ends fray slightly after the first few washes, simply snip the loose threads.

Each cube preserves a real, natural botanical specimen—such as Sea Lavender, Sola Rose, or Japanese Walnut—suspended perfectly in crystal-clear acrylic. They are beautiful, maintenance-free decorative pieces that capture a permanent moment in nature.

Tableware & Kitchen Care

We recommend washing your ceramics by hand using lukewarm water and a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid abrasive sponges, and unless the piece is specifically marked as microwave or dishwasher safe, keep it away from extreme heat to protect the delicate glazes.

No. Lacquerware and untreated wooden items should never be soaked in water or placed in a dishwasher, as the heat and moisture will warp the wood and peel the lacquer. Simply wipe them clean with a soft, damp cloth and dry them immediately.

If you need to stack delicate tableware, we highly recommend placing a soft cloth, paper towel, or felt pad between each piece. This prevents the unglazed bottom rim (the kodai) of one plate from scratching the glazed surface of the one below it.

Japanese Tea & Accessories

It depends on how many people you typically serve. A 200-340 ml teapot is the most versatile size and perfect for brewing sencha for 1 to 3 people. If you prefer drinking larger mugs of roasted teas like hojicha or genmaicha, opt for a larger 600-800 ml pot.

If your teapot has a metal mesh strainer, gently scrub it with a soft brush under warm running water to dislodge fine tea leaves. Avoid using harsh soaps, as clay teapots can absorb the soapy flavors, which will alter the taste of your next brew.

Ceremonial matcha (like our Single Origin Organic Matcha) is made from the youngest, most tender shade-grown tea leaves. It has a vibrant green color and a sweet, umami-rich flavor meant to be whisked and sipped simply with water. Culinary matcha has a more robust, slightly bitter profile that stands up well when baked or mixed into lattes.

Keep your tea in an airtight container (like a traditional Chazutsu tea canister) and store it in a cool, dark place away from moisture and strong odors. Because green tea oxidizes easily, sealing it properly preserves its freshness and vibrant flavor.

Yes, we ship worldwide directly from Paris. We offer free shipping in France for orders over 50€, in Europe for orders over 80€, and globally for orders over 350€. (Note: Food and alcohol cannot be shipped to the USA, Russia, and select other countries).
