MARS Komagatake Sinshu - Aging Edition

• Nose : The fruity notes of quince, apricot and banana stand out on the nose, underpinned by a smooth pastry vanilla.
• Appearance : Coppery old gold.
• Mouth : The notes from the barrels deliver a pleasant sweetness of honey and hazelnut. The experience continues on a delicate fruitiness with melon, and exotic fruits such as persimmon.
• Finish : Delectable with a clean and perfectly mastered finish.

Located in the heart of the Japanese Alps in a preserved natural setting, the Shinshu distillery benefits from pure water filtered for hundreds of years through the granite rocks of the surrounding mountains.

To compose this small batch version 2021, Hajime Kunai the Master Assembler of the House, has selected several barrels of bourbon and sherry all aged in the cellars of the distillery. The Mars Komagatake Shinshu Aging expresses a rich and complex aromatic profile.

Characterised by a malty and fruity nose that during tasting in the mouth reveals aromas of melon, quince with some notes of honey and hazelnut all wrapped in an oily texture.

The finish allows the different aromas to disappear with elegance leaving room for a slight bitterness.

The distillery is located near Mount Komagatake, the peak of the Kiso mountain range. Blessed with fresh air and pure water from this natural environment, Mars has always been committed to producing the finest whisky. 

The Single Malt Komagatake Shinshu Aging 2021 Edition represents the classic and already renowned expression of their single malt, aged mainly in bourbon and sherry casks. Its elaboration made it possible to seek the ideal profile for their future style of Single Malt, in development since 2018: an elegant, rich and oily whisky.
