- Handcrafted in the Saitama region: each layer of wax is applied by hand to form the candle forming a traditional Warosoku candle
- The salt has purification properties that are historically embedded in Japanese Shinto Buddhist rituals and lifestyle.
- The sea salt is gathered from the spring tide under a full moon when the moon's gravitational pulls the seawater
- The wick is made of washi and Igusa (the fibre used for tatami) so the flame a very bright light
- The wax never drips: it evaporates
In Japan, there has been a belief since ancient times that the ebb and flow of the tide is related to life and death, and the products are manufactured with a focus on the ebb and flow of the tide, which is full of vitality. When the earth, moon, and sun line up in a straight line, the gravitational forces combine to create the greatest tides, which is called a spring tide.
This Japanese candle is made with spring tide mixed with wax and is made with a wish for purification.
The “transience” that will eventually disappear is beautiful. Beauty of Warosoku's flame is that it has the same transience and integrity as cherry blossoms. People are moved when they discover the beauty of transience and integrity. Being moved by something creates room in your heart, and that room is spiritually fulfilling.

- The wooden box type comes with a candle stand
- The paper type does not come with a stand so please CLICK HERE to purchase the Kodama candle holder.
Japanese candles do on stand on their own. Be sure to stand it in a dedicated candlestick with a pin and light it. We also have candle holders for purchase.
Handling and cleaning of the candlestick & holder:
1. Wait for the candlestick to cool down before cleaning
2. Clean the candle by rinsing with Boiling water and wiping it gently
3. The candle is handmade so please slowly and gently place it on the stand
Note: The manufacture often changes the packaging. Please be aware the paper box may come with a different pattern. Additionally each candle is handmade so they will all be different. They are somewhat fragile so please handle with care.
