Candle Wand - Flameless Light

The body is aluminum — elegant and slightly flexible, with a curved form that was refined until it felt natural in the hand. The colors are drawn from plants long used as herbs and spices, each with a faint sheen that catches a subtle shimmer when lit by a flickering candle flame.

Because it stands on its own, it can be left out and displayed rather than tucked away between uses. It recharges over USB-C and is built to be used again and again, so it doesn't end up as waste the way disposable lighters do. And because there's no open flame involved in the lighting mechanism itself, it isn't affected by a breath of wind the way a match or traditional lighter would be.

It was designed by Guido Venturini, an architect and designer based in Milan after training at the University of Florence. He was one of the founders of the Bolidismo design movement, co-founded King Kong Production with Stefano Giovannoni, and began a long collaboration with Alessi that produced a number of commercially successful, widely recognized designs. He has also taught at the University of Florence and at Milan's Brera Academy of Fine Arts.
