Uwacho, Seiyo City is surrounded by mountains over 500m. Tarikimai, which is grown in this area blessed with clean water from the Hiji River and rich soil, is characterised by its large grains and chewy texture. It is a gem that has won the gold prize many times at fairs.

The secret of its deliciousness lies in the climate. During the rice growing season, from July to September, the temperature difference between day and night in is about 10 degrees on average. This temperature difference prevents the consumption of starch accumulated through photosynthesis and stores plenty of nutrients in the rice.

This rice is grown using organic compost “Mikan Bokashi” from mikan (tangerine) peels from a nearby juicing company in Ehime prefecture, an area famous for its citrus. The citrus peels both add nutritional properties to the soil and protect the rice from insects and improve the umami of the rice

This rice variety "Himenorin" is a new variety developed by a researcher in Ehime prefecture who has been studying rice varieties for over 16 years. The rice has an elegant aroma that also smells wonderful as it cools.
